Frisbee, As shibadiva has suggested, it could just be that the Orijen is just not the correct food for your dog.  Are you transitioning slowly from the old food to the Orijen? If not, that could be part of the problem.

So it's salmon bones, not chicken. And it turned out that the fish supplier had used a larger screen than usual so the bones went through. It was kind of scary to look at those pieces of kibble in the pictures - remember those shots of Evo with the nylon hanging out of them? But salmon bones are usually pretty soft.

They are apparently strong enough that they made a members finger bleed. I have just asked her for permission to post her  information. She is on one of my lists........She stuck her hand in one of the bags and she got stabbed by one of the shards and her finger was bleeding!  As soon as she responds, I will post it here if she says  YES~

I am trying Orijen Senior with my 9yr old dog. Everyone else says how well their dog is doing on the food but mine has a lot of runny poops, bloated belly and GAS. I always put water in the bowl with the kibble, a practice I have done since puppyhood. The store that carries this food said I should try putting some probiotic powder in with the kibble to help the adjustment from the last dog food. I have done that a few times, but not every time and I don't see how it is helping. I thought this food would be better, but now I'm wondering if I need to try something different?

Any suggestions?

If you are looking for a grain-free formula other than Orijen since that one doesn't appear to be working well for you, there are single source protein formulas from Natural Balance that are also grain free. Not sure if you have tried those or not. They are available at Petco.

I have seen lots of reports online about them being extremely sharp. While the company wants to dismiss it as harmless I totally disagree. If they are sharp enough to pierce someones finger as they have done they are sharp enough to pierce the esophagus, stomach, intestines and colon. And while the company says animals in the wild eat bones they forget to mention the fact that the bones are not cooked, not sharp splintered bones. They also forget to mention that the animal also eats the fur and skin which acts as a buffer around the bones. I believe they have a great food but we need to be realistic. How can one "miss" this as its being made and packaged. They look real obvious to me in the pictures. I would think it would have been noticed immediately. Not too hard to see. They also took the notice off their website. I can't find it anywhere on the site today. Anyway, hope we can get updates.
