My two boys have been on Orijen Adult for the past three months and are doing very well on it.  Full of energy and they love this food so very much.  It is quite expensive though, and very difficult to get (a 4+ hour roundtrip to get to the nearest place else pay a ton for shipping).

As for the Australian recall, I don't think it's fair to blame Orijen.  This is a policy of Australia not Champion Pet Food.  Unfortunately, the FDA also allows this type of thing to go on trying to kill harmful organisms from entering the country in food.  "Great" idea...kill the bad bugs by exposing the food to radiation...how could anything go wrong?

Carolo - I'm with you.  Ever since my boys got diarreah from Orijen because their machine wasn't separating the bones from the skin, I don't like the way they do business.  They never had a visible warning on their website and didn't tell the distributors in So. Florida to pull the bad lots off their shelf.  I even spoke to one retailer and he said their distributor said the bad lots never made it to Florida.  I not only had 2 bags, but the retailer had a shelf full of the bad lots.  If I didn't call Champion, I would not have known the President wrote a letter explaining the situation.  At that time, they told me to click on a fish icon to read the letter. I would never have thought to click on that icon if they didn't tell me.  I was really disappointed in the company as I was rotating their kibble with EVO.  I'm totally on EVO now.  Also, I think they were trying to get away with using Ethoxyquin until they got complaints.

RIP Bones - my big, beautiful boy

Hadn't seen anything about ethoxyquin. Just that they found trace amount of BHA/BHT in a chicken ingredient when they had a detailed analysis done for the Oz irradiation issue which has since been corrected by notifying the supplier (according to Clark Stride on these forums). Can you provide something about the ethoxyquin?

scroll down to the Editor's comments.  This was posted in 2006/2005.  I don't remember which thread I had read about them using ethoxyquin, sorry.

My puppy loves Orijen for Puppies a whole lot, with warm water and yoghurt.  He finds this delish and looks healthy as can be and is a real happy puppy too.

Could someone else offer info as to their pets having diarrhea from the food? Only way I know this or any other concentrated food would cause diarrhea is by either feeding too much of it for the pets wt before seeing how they tolerate it. You can do that with any food and with dogs you have to gradually switch the food over to any new one you feed or you upset their digestive tract.

The bones were due to the screen not being small enough to trap the bones better. Once the new screens were put in did anyone notice a ton of bones in their food? I'm not pro or con at this point for the company - just would like to hear more from others who have fed or are feeding Orijen.

I'm still feeding the regular flavor to my three dogs with no
problems whatsoever.  They love it - clean their bowls.

Feeding now Orijen Regional Red plus RAW in the morning. Dogs are doing great! For cost reasons I am looking at the Acana Prairie for my next bag. It is the same cost as the Kumpi I used to buy, but without grains. And a little more than the Pro Plan I tried to downgrade them too to save money....not my best idea - Angeles started to get the butt itchy after getting into the second bag. I'm putting my dogs on grain-free + RAW. I'm seeing more muscle tone, good energy levels, and LESS POOP!!!! And they are SO ENJOYING their food like NEVER before!

My experience with the Natures Variety RAW brand is here: http://itchmoforums.com/dog-food-experiences-by-brand/natures-variety-dog-foods-t1230.0.html;msg150216#msg150216
