This is ok, it was a decent bland diet, but they reformulated it to be more potato ingredients than duck. It made my pomeranian severely bloated and fat from the high-carb from all the various potato ingredients. There's like different potatoes ingredients listed 3-4 times on the bag. Also he began giving himself hotspots in various places of his legs, which stopped immediately with another food. He has IBS and this didn't irritate him.

I would say this is meh, at best. The venison and rice recall was scary. I didn't even realize my dogs were going into renal failure (drinking bowls full of water, peeing excessively) this happened BEFORE the recall. As soon as I heard it I pulled my chihuahua and pomeranian off of that, and switched to potato and duck formula. Which used to be more duck than potato, but the ingredients were reformulated. I had to use the Ultra Premium Dog Formula for my chihuahua, he's has hyperthyroidism, he needed to gain weight. I couldn't use that formula for my pomeranian, because he has IBS, and Ultra premium has barley.

So I tried to feed 2-different formulas to my dogs for their health. The potato and duck was very high in carbs which made my dog excessively fat. It agitated his luxating patellas, and he moved a lot slower. The Ultra didn't help my chihuahua gain any weight, and his developed anorexia (medically it means without appetite.) on this food. They lost my trust in this brand, which caused me to search elsewhere for a better brand.

Moved here from the NB topic

I used to think that anyone doing anything weird was weird. I suddenly realized that anyone doing anything weird wasn't weird at all and it was the people saying they were weird that were weird.

We put our chihuahuas on NB Duck and Potato on our vet's advice to hopefully help with apparent food allergy issues.  While they haven't had any problems on the food, the allergy symptoms have not improved so I think we'll be switching.  We feed mostly the dry (which is actually labeled Potato and Duck) with occasional canned (Duck and Potato).  We have to watch the amount of canned, though as too much makes them fat.  The vet said this might happen due to the high fat content of the duck.

I'm in East Bay, California

Fed this food about a year ago trying to cut back on paw licking.  Purchased in Ohio.  No problems with my mutt except she gained weight but my mastiff had a seizure while on this food.  I can't for sure say it was related to the food but after we changed brands he never had another one and it is one year later.  he also didn't look well the whole time he was eating this food.

Coby and I are in Southern California.
Coby is a 5yr old 90lb Husky/German Shepherd.

He was on the dry food about 5 months ago but I switched him to Timberwolf Organics.  Aside from the recalls, I was not pleased with Natural Balance.  I didn't like how potato was the first ingredient.  I put Coby on this in hopes of ridding him of his allergies but he still scratched and chewed at his paws (less than before but he still did). He also started eating grass and mud.  I also think duck was too rich for him and he would be bloated quite a bit as well as gained weight.  I don't recommend this food.

My little 3 1/2 year old Westie was on NB,  of all types. He has alot of allergies that the contaminated rice gluten on Venison/Rice did nothing good for.  After 6 months of expensive Vet and Derm bills, he is doing well and on Ca. Nat for now as well as home cooking. I m thinking of changing it for another brand too. Nothing is permanent in the pet food fiasco IMO.  I dont reccommend NB and the ratings are less than mediocre.
