Hi everyone-  Is anyone feeding Iams dog food right now? and are they having any trouble with it? A couple of my dogs don't feel good, but i don't know if it's the food or not. Any help would be great. thanks

Call Iams and report it (800-525-4267) and then call the FDA (http://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/SafetyHealth/ReportaProblem/ucm182403.htm) and report it as well (always report to the FDA, even if you're not sure it's the food).

Stop feeding the Iams if you can and save all packaging you have as well as the food you have left (if you can).  This may sound very reactionary, but these days you can't be too careful imo when it comes to pet foods.

BTW, do not be at all surprised if Iams tells you that no one else is reporting issues.  That's what the pet food companies always say, whether it's true at the time or not.

I am going to do this. But I am also  asking around about anyone else who is using this? I have a cat [only one of them does this] that eats this food sometimes. get into the dog food. now, he looks like he doesn't feel good. I am also calling my vet, who is a friend, and talk to her about it.
Thanks so much

Give it some time for responses, Trudy.  Lots of folks are at work and can't check Itchmo until they get home.

In the meantime, maybe check ConsumerAffairs and see if there are recent complaints - http://www.consumeraffairs.com/pets/iams.html

I haven't fed Iams in years. I feel the quality went way down when P&G took over. Same reason I don't use any Natura products anymore. Have you tried Purina 1 or Pro plan ? Not a huge Purina fan either, but because they buy some ingredients separately, they have had less problems. Notice I don't say no problems  Roll Eyes. In my opinion Verus is a safe alternative similar in ingredients & not much higher in cost.

Thanks- I have tried Purina One, and they good on it. I'm going back to that.
And where I live, i don't have a lot to choose from. So, we are going back.

I will stick with Natura even with P&G nothing has been downgraded with the product that I have seen. I would look at the label on any food you get and look for corn, soy, wheat, by-products, coloring, and menadione sodium bisulfite complex if you see any form of these items put it down and look at the next food..

It's a little odd that Iams had a recall.
