POISONED FOOD: First, dead pets. Now, babies.

The companies are trying to reinvent their images and products since the recalls.  What NEW NAMES of DOG FOOD have emerged since March 2007?  Let's list the name of the food, brand name, and actual name of the manufacturer.   We can help one another fill in any missing information such as "DBA" (doing business as).  Some companies may have even established an off-shoot of the present company under a new name.  TIA for your contributions.

Buy local.  Buy organic.
If you ate today, thank a farmer, hopefully a small, local farmer.

Pet Promise: I've seen posts that this is a Purina product.  I have been all over the website & it says they've been in business for 15 yrs so it doesn't look like it's new.  Does anyone know for sure?  Curious because a friend bought it & brought it back when I said it may be made by Purina. Huh

Go to petsitusa, then go to the link on the right hand side that says pet food recall list, under promise, it tells you at the end of the info. that it is manufactured by Purina.

Debi:  Thanks for info......I went there (not sure why I didn't go there first & look) & there it is, big as life.  I was feeling guilty because my friend brought the food back but then I couldn't find proof that it was a Purina product.

Off topic.......tada......another Bushie is about to hit the dust......Gonzales is resigning.  Now if only we could get W & his sidekick Dickie to go away.......& take their buds who have totally corrupted the FDA with them........dream on........ Cheesy

Actually, Pet Promise has not been around for 15 years.  Only since 2004.

I believe the 15 year reference is the length of the time the founders have been in the sustainable agriculture movement.  That is how I interpret it.

So, this is not a new brand since the recalls.

JustMe:  I'm confused......did Purina always own them?  I was just wondering why Purina seems to be hiding the fact that this is a Purina product.  There is nothing on their website, at least I couldn't find anything.

I just remembered that somewhere along the way somebody posted that PP was a Purina product.....I had never heard of it.

Just curious...... Undecided

JanC,

Pet Promise says they are not owned by Purina.  They use Purina to manufacture their products.  They don't have their own factory.  They've only been around a few years.   If you call they, they will readily answer your questions.  If they don't have answers, they will get the answers and call you back.  They also have free sample packs of dog and cat foods plus coupons.  No shipping fees.

Pet Promise contains rice. Has anyone any knowledge of where this rice is from? Is it genetically modified? I once fed this but stopped after the grains were suspect in the recalls.

just me, I have called them too, to find out where the locust bean gum and guar gum come from.  From my little research, the guar gum can come from here, but most of it originates from Indonesia, by the way they never got back to me, but I received alot of coupons!!! also, if Purina does not manufacture the foods for them, who does?

Thanks, Stumpy... never heard of it.  Is it regional, or nation-wide?

Hi Purringfur,

I should have said I'm in Oregon.  I did find a website for the food, but I have no idea if the food is regional or not.

Too bad Schell and Kampeter don't spend money on better and safe ingredients for their food, instead of launching a new product line with beautiful, shiny new packaging! Angry
