I was wondering if anyone has heard of similar problems to what I just went through.  My dog is a 12 yr old lab/shepherd mix.  She does have a very sensitive stomach and the only foods I've been able to feed her are Iams and Science Diet.  I've been giving her the Iams for approx 2 years now with little to no problems until this year.
Around the March/April time frame she started losing hair on her belly, legs, neck and around the eyes.  The hair would grow back in spots and then get irritated and fall out again.  She is prone to slight hair loss and hotspots normally as she seems to be sensitive to weather changes (I live in the northeast.)  I thought this time it was just not growing back as quick since she is older now.
Then, the last 2 weeks she started getting really lethargic.  She seemed to be eating less and less until after about 8 days she stopped eating completely.  She was drinking alot of water in the beginning and then she wouldn't touch water or food at all.  She was weak and I thought I was going to have to put her down.  I buy her 20 lb bags and had just opened one.  The day she stopped eating I reached into the bag and scooped out about 1 cup of food.  There was a dead mouse buried in the bag of food decomposing, it was buried more than 1/2 way down in the bag.  I then realized she started getting sick as soon as I started feeding her from that bag.
It's been about a week since I found that.  I cannot get a call or anything from Iams.  She is doing great, she's back to normal.  I have her on Science Diet Senior right now.  The other thing is, as soon as I took her off the Iams, all of her hair started growing back.  She never had an issue until around the spring time with this food.

I used Eukanuba Senior and had the same problems you are having with the Iams. I have heard from other people who have used your food and mine that dogs lost alot of hair on the body and especially the backs of the legs. I had a big drinking water issue.  I have been feeding home cooked since the end of March, all the hair has grown back and no more excessive water drinking or gastro issues.
