Two shiba inu's in Ontario have eaten EVO grain-free canned food as a wet supplement to Orijen kibble. No problems with the contents in the cans or the dogs' appetites. The canned product almost looks as good as pate. However, the poops were a bit runny and stinky, and if the dogs "cut one" in the middle of the night, it would wake me up.

I didn't know we had to say where we're from. I'm from Michigan.
I am VERY happy with this brand, I use EVO's Small Bites Dry Dog Food. I switched from using BRAND X after five years or more due to the recall. My pomeranian has IBS, or he just cannot digest grain whatsoever. So I needed to find a grain-free alternative. In a way I am happy that the recall happened (not happy about the sickness and death of course, but I am trying to make a negative thing positive.), my dogs were going into renal failure due to BRAND X. It was a rude awakening to what we feed our pets, and I tried to teach myself all I could about nutrition for pets.
EVO is what I came up with, raw would be best, but it's not convenient for travel or in general. To me, this was the next best thing in top notch foods. After the recall I switched to potatoes and duck. Normally I would say the other way around, but the ingredients are mostly potato based. He kept licking spots on his paws which would give him hot spots. On EVO that went away. He's also loosing the chub he had from the high-carb diet, and he's going back to normal weight. My chihuahua which is has hyperthyroidism is gaining his weight and appetite back. They look around for food less, because I believe the higher protein makes them feel fuller longer, and they seem to have way more energy.

Used briefly before switching to homemade. 3 dogs;all loved it. The lab/elkhound mix had the runs for 3 wks. Could have been that I had to switch abrubtly because of the white crystals in the BRAND X. All 3 dogs have current health problems & don't feel safe with commercial foods. We are in southern NJ.

Evo is a great product, the dogs thrived on it while we fed it to them. We finally took them off of it because it is very high in calories. Our Chihuahuas don't get much food to start with (seems like) and further reducing the volume seemed tacky. Scott

I feed Evo to one of my dogs and he looks great. I would feed it to the other, but he has gotten a loose stool in the past from Evo. I may give it another shot as I believe no grain is the best. . I do believe switching foods and brands on a regular basis is a good idea. I also believe raw is probably the healthiest way to go if done right. I am in Ohio.

Just saw this post and wanted to let you know that my golden retrievers have also started having loose smelly bms on EVO RF vet couldnt find anything wrong but all he did was a fecal sample. Any info would be much appreciated. Started this when the changed their bag design.
my2goldengirlz, You can post your questions and get feedback in the Your Problems with Pet Food Forums. The brand forums are just for experience, good or bad. Thanks.

Mine are doing better on it now than at first. It took almost 3 months for their stools to firm up. I initially started out the with Reduced Fat formula but switched to the regular Large Bite one. It is a very good food, IMO, but you may need to be patient in dealing with loose stools until they adjust to it.

NM with Innova/Evo All meat canned dog food.
Daisy has been eating it for about 2 weeks. She LOVES it. So do the cats. They get it as a treat. Her poo is a bit soft but still coming soo...We will stick with it.

Been feeding the Pom Evo 80% of the time since I got wind of the food recalls (almost a year now?)
his coat is soft and full, loads of compliments, he's 8 yrs old and loaded with energy and a happy attitude. not mediocre like he was on moist n meaty etc...
mostly the beef or the chicken evo, and home made grilled chicken or steak cover the other 20% (sometimes some dietz n watson turkey too) hehe

I use the canned evo to mix in with their kibble. They love it but I always forget when I open the can that there is a layer of liquid on the top which I always spill. Didn't notice any change when rotated with Evanger's canned.
