JanC did this happen very recently with your friends dog? Like in the past couple of months? My dog was the same (not spoiled though) and did fine on the Evangers til about 2 mo. ago and just plain refused to eat it. When I opened a can of grain free wellness or a very small can of Organix that she ate with no problem. They seem to know better then we if somethings 'off' with the food and steer clear of it.

JJ: My guess is that his dog refused the food in the last couple of weeks. I got him two cans for his dog to try maybe about a month ago. His dog loved both of them so he went back & bought a bunch of different flavors. I saw him about a week ago & this is when he told me that his dog has refused to eat any of the flavors. I'll call them as soon as I get back from Hannah's morning romp & will post what they have to say. Because I use so little with all her homemade food, it'd be difficult for Hannah to refuse to eat it as it's all mixed together. I'm hoping this has nothing to do with the food, that the dogs just had a change of mind or whatever....... Klondike mentioned about the testing where there were excess vitamins & minerals so I just went over & read that thread. I don't know what to think right now (& it is very early......just barely started on my coffee)..... I do use some of the cans that have no vitamins in them & just use more Missing Link or the other vitamins that I have for her. Maybe the secret is to go with the cans w/o any added vitamins or minerals & add your own. They are cheaper.......

I just talked to a girl at Evangers. I told her that friends of mine were telling me that their dogs were refusing to eat the canned food lately when they liked it before this. I asked her if they had changed anything in their formula. She said no but from batch to batch there could be minor differences as in moisture or a different type of potato, etc. I told her about the green glob in the duck & sweet potato......she asked if I kept it or kept the can w/the batch #.....no & no. I don't think I have any other cans that I bought at the same time as the other one.......but she did say if I ever find something like that (but hopefully it will never happen again) to call but to save the can & the glob so I can send it to them & they can get a look at it. She went to talk to the QC guy & he asked the same thing.....what was the batch # & did I still have the glob. The only other thing she could think of is that maybe it was something left over from a different variety that had just been run through & it was a veggie left over from the previous batch. Who knows.....but I told her I was hoping that they weren't getting careless. In case anybody else is curious, I asked what the difference is with the regular super premium & the hand packed. It's more expensive but I just wondered what it really means. She said people actually put the meat or veggies or whatever into the can.....that it's not in a loaf form like regular canned food is. Now I'm curious & will have to try a can. So that's the scoop.....over & out.....

Thx for talking to Evangers JanC. Since it just stood out so clear when she refused I took the cue and stopped feeding any of it for now. Rather err on side of her not wanting it and not going to force it on her as it will just sit in the bowl and she should not be forced to eat it cause she gets so hungry that she eventually will as any dog would.

JJ: Why don't you call them & tell them your dog refused to eat their food recently & ask if they have any reason why......maybe if they get a few calls about the same issue, it might make them think about what it is they are doing differently...... or if they are getting a little careless. This is what scares me. I'm going to finish up these cans (just bought 8 cans), try one of the hand packed just to see what it looks like & the rest will be the ones w/o vitamins. They are a lot cheaper than the regular cans anyway.......well, not a lot, I think it's ten cents or something like that. I know a while back Bridgett was talking about a glob she found in the food & that her dog was refusing to eat it. Maybe you should call too. I think they need to hear that the call they got from me was not from a nut case. The can I found w/the glob was duck & sweet tater & yours was braised beef......two different kinds. Hmmmmmm By the way, Evangers has gone up.....some of the cans are thirty cents more than they were a month or so ago.

One of my local dog food stores started carrying Evangers around Christmas, and I bought a few cans for the boys for Christmas. All of them devoured it (which isn't much of a change from their normal eating). Since then, I have tried the 100% buffalo, pheasant, duck, rabbit, and venison, all with great success. There has never been a consistency change or anything out of the ordinary with the cans. It helped get Gunner to take his morning dose of Berry Balance when he was on the initial month period. We don't feed canned too often, because of the price, but the next time we have the extra, it'll definitely be on the list of choices.

We have been using the canned Evanger's for a while now. I always mix it in with their kibble. We use the 100% chicken and beef. I would try different kinds of the canned food but there are hard to find. No problems as of yet. All 3 go crazy over it.

I've had my dog on Evangers organic turkey w/potatoes & carrots for about 6 months now. No problems with it, but yesterday I found a dried kernel of corn in a new can. I thought Evangers was grain free.
I saved the can and the piece. Does this warrant a call to Evangers to let them know?
Thanks

Annie First check the label for ingredients, then if corn is not one of them, then call. Make sure it is a piece of corn first. db

Just talked with customer service at Evangers about the corn I found in the organic turkey. She seemed very surprised, said they do not use corn in their products. Took the lot number, my name, etc. She was going to notify quality control of this and would get back to me. She also asked if my dog had gotten sick or had any problem eating this from particular can. No, there weren't any problems. But in the future I will be keeping an eye open for anything else unusual. I'm glad I called them, just hope their quality control isn't slipping.
