Im in California. I've used Canidae Dry Food since April 1st. I've used both Chicken and Rice and All Life Stages. No problems. Both dogs are doing well. Firm poop and considerably less.

Dogs also eating Canidae Original Snap Biscuits

I'm in Nebraska. Feeding Canidae senior platinum wet and dry. Five weeks now, so far all is well. Dogs have adjusted.

RE: Canidae wet Lamb and Rice
My dog almost died from ingesting white plastic found in the food. I opened a second can, to see if it was in that can to, and found it filled with a watery slop, with pieces of sharp, dried bone. If she had eaten the bone, it would probably have choked her. If it had managed to pass through her throat, it would have sliced her to pieces inside. Now, she is a special needs rescue. a teacup Pom, so any artifacts like these are a danger to her. A larger dog, with a bigger throat, may or may not have had any issues with it. But, it was supposed to be a top of the line, excellent food, for ALL dogs.
I of course, stopped feeding it. She had already eaten one can, over two days. She was throwing up and had bloody diarrhea. Her vet thought she was just having trouble adjusting to the 'high quality' food. The next day I found the artifacts. I am not telling anyone here to stop using it. I am only sharing to alert those of you who do, to beware and check VERY carefully. After finding the big strip of white plastic, I put on a pair of Opti-Visors and really went in to look. In among the nicely chopped food, I discovered the plastic was chopped up the same size and dispersed throughout the food. Had I not discovered the large strip, I would never had known what the issue was.
I now home cook for her, and she is slowly recovering. This happened last February. She had no medical issues when I adopted her. Only orthopedic.

Have been feeding  Canidae canned (Chicken & Rice Formula) as one of the foods I use.   Have used 5 cases to date.  No problems at all.   The cans that I have had are the same consistancy (thick) smell the same.

My dog liked Canidae dry for 1 day and the next day wouldn't eat anything at all. No treats, nothing.. Then I noticed he was constipated and his normally sorta mushy yet firm poop was super hard and dry.
I also thought the Canidae smelled like horse food and on the ingredients I think there was alfalfa in it.
Then I saw a daddy long legs spider crawl out from the bag (I'm 98% sure it came from the inside of the bag)
That weirded me out and my dog had his super dry poop, I decided to forget about it.

I'm also in California.  We had been feeding Innova to our two Labradors.  Decided to go 1/2 Innova and 1/2  Canidae Chicken & Rice All Life Stages.  So far so good.  One Lab has allergies, so that was a consideration in picking Canidae.

My 3 dogs were initally getting the Canidae Lamb & Rice dry food. After one month, my male was diagnosed as borderline hypothyroid. I noticed the Lamb & Rice formula contains 5.5 mg/kg iodine and canola oil is the 3rd ingredient. Both of these ingredients MAY inhibit thyroid function according to my research.

Switched them to All Life Stages formula (3.0 mg/kg iodine).  They all have a nice shiny coat. My ultra-hyper girl finally put on weight (after 5 other foods throughout her life failed to do so).  No digestion problems. However, I notice increased urine leaking in my male, so I switched him to a grain-free food to see if it cleared up (it did).

Overall, had great results with two dogs, but the third did not do well on Canidae.

Oregon, 21.7# Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  Recently switched to Canidae Chicken and Rice (husband picked up this bag my mistake, meaning to get the All Life Stages) and even more recently, as in just last week, Canidae All Life Stages.  Both dry. We usually buy smallest bag any company packages, store in Rubbermaid containers and do some rotating between a couple of "flavors."  Also Canidae Snap Biscuits.

Dog likes all the above, doing well.  (preferred his XXXXX Biscuits until their last bag and also preferred Brand X Bars for treats over the Canidae Snap Biscuits, but I'm waiting on lab results before returning to any Natura product)  Dog has some dermatitis but had that last summer as well on a completely different food.  We think the dermatitis is seasonal allergy. Otherwise, his coat is shiny and he is a bundle of energy.

Also feeding 1/2 home cooked, which I started shortly after recall.

I first bought Canidae chicken & rice a few months ago.  When I opened it, it was filled with white stuff (like salt) all through the bag so I refused to give it to my dog & brought it back to the store.  Canidae tried to tell me it was separation during shipping but I didn't like the looks of it.  Tried another bag recently but was only giving my dog a small amount along with home cooked.  Also was giving her a multi-vitamin.....I noticed she was eating a fair amount of grass which I'd never seen her do before.  I honestly wasn't sure if it was the Canidae or the multi-vitamins so I stopped both & the grass eating stopped.  Once the problems with Brand X surfaced, I decided no more commercial food so I have no clue if it was the food or the vitamins.  Now that she's on 100% home cooked, I haven't seen her eating grass.

I'm in CA.

Hi- we are in southern NJ,3 dogs[9 yr old lab/elkhound,8 yr chi & 7 yr beagle]. Canidae dry all life stages lamb & rice is 1 we tried after the recalls. None were really crazy about it. Had a lot of grass eatting & bile vomitting.  Old foods were BRAND X All 3 are having urinary problems now & 2 thyroid problems. 1 has had strange liver values. I don't think it's from this food; they didn't eat very much of it.Have also tried Other foods.

I think this thread needs to be moved up to "Canidae for dogs" thread?

Carolo

Finally figured out how to merge the two topics.

(above first posted on Canidae Chicken and Rice and Canidae All Stages thread.  I copied to here to see if we could keep it condensed to "Canidae for Dogs.")

I started introducing Canidae Lamb and Rice formula into my dogs diet a couple of weeks ago and I have one who's doing okay but has not stopped the paw licking a scratching that got me to try this formula in the first place and the other dog has started with paw licking and has goopy eyes which she has never had before.  I'm going to stop the Canidae.  I live in the Houston, Texas area.
