I am just curious. Last night, I experienced a "crash" on the computer where IE stopped working completely. I spent hours trying to find the problem. It happened to me around midnight EST, so maybe others here were not up so late and using the computer. To make a long story short, the problem turned out to be that Norton had an update right at that time that caused computers around the world to crash when it was sent to everyone's computer. After spending much too much time trying to solve the problem, I realized that I could get the internet on the iPad that my son had just given me. So, I went and did a search for a "fix" for the problem since nothing I tried worked. I found a Microsoft Community site where many, many other people were posting the exact same problem happening last night. Through comparing experiences, it was eventually determined that the problem must have been the Norton Update, and after many hours, that was confirmed as people had some communication with Symantec, experimented with deleting the Norton software, etc. Early this morning, Norton did have a new update that fixed the problem permanently. So, if you didn't use your computer until later this morning, you may not have noticed anything. However, my daughter did see the problem very early this morning when she found a string of "Internet Explorer has stopped working" dialog boxes in her tray. Not knowing what the problem was and not having time to play around with it, she just turned the computer off. Later in the morning when she restarted the computer, the Norton Update fix apparently loaded and fixed the problem before she even knew what it was. I had sent her an e-mail alerting her before the fix, just in case. I think that everyone should be fixed now if you have IE and Norton since the patch started reaching people throughout the day and there were posts on the Norton Community site confirming that around the world as people got IE back. But, just in case you might still have a problem, you can fix it yourself by clicking on "LiveUpdates" on your Norton screen where the controls and settings are located.
My question out of curiosity is whether anyone else here experienced this first hand last night. Just wondering if I had any Itchmo company sharing my frustration of hours of trying to fix this!
