Microsoft Security Bulletin MS10-046 – Critical

        and my comment...
        My Personal view on this….

        Don’t fall for this.
Industry insiders have been warning since the launch of Windows 7, that a “security patch” would be issued several months later that will scan and collect information about installed applications and software. The information suggests- if anyone was using less than a 100% genuine application the system would display a message warning that action will be taken and the system may be shut down. This may or may not be this patch but I have been a software developer since 1980 and have watched the development of software, operating systems over that time. I am VERY wary of intentions at this time and I NEVER allow automatic update on my Windows XP SP2 machines. I have to reformat new machines to install XP SP2 its the last MS OS that I trust enough to use.
        The risk is all yours….

I used the CD to update to XP SP3 last Summer.  I have never had a problem with it.
