The maker of our paper pellet litter has decided to stop production which means it's great timing for me to try to find a different litter that doesn't produce as much dust.  The amount of white, sticky dust the paper pellets made has always been a concern of mine, so I'm kind of grateful that company decided to stop making their paper litter, forcing me to update my research!

We are now transitioning to Cat's Best (seems to also be called Oko), which is a 100% organic wood litter.  I kind of wish I'd had them using this years ago!

They have pellets and also a granule version.  As can be expected, the granule version makes for tracking issues so we'll likely be using the pellets only - though I hear some people mix the two.  The clumping is fairly "light" but I've had no issues at all scooping and keeping the remaining litter clean - and if I can do that with 8 cats, you know it's gotta be all right!   Cheesy  I have a few boxes filled with mixed paper pellets + Cat's Best granule, and a few boxes filled with a mix of paper pellets and Cat's Best pellets.  The Cat's Best pellets are heavier than the paper ones and don't get thrown or carried out from the box which is fantastic.

The reviews I've read say that it is very lightweight (though heavier compared to our previous paper pellets so it's hard for me to say).

I've got to say, I'm really pleased with it so far (about two weeks)!  (Jazza went straight in, the other 7 cats have been a little suspicious but are now getting used to it.)

It's still too early to tell about dust but I'm not seeing much.  There is a very slight woody smell but I'm really sensitive to smells and this doesn't bother me at all.  I can't wait to get to being all Cat's Best so I can see the difference in dust!  (I guess I won't need to wait too long seeing as I only have a few bags of the paper pellets left...)

Cat's Best Öko is a granule cat litter. The granules are made from organic fibres, which come from fir and spruce wood. The granules can absorb liquids up to seven times their own volume. Unpleasant smells are immediately contained in the interior of the litter. This litter lasts longer than other litters, which means that you have to clean the litter tray less often. Cat's Best Öko Plus is biodegradable and compostable. Key Benefits Absorbs up to seven times its own volume Locks in unpleasant smells Biodegradable Without artificial or chemical additives.

Clumping organic cat litter from 100% naturally organic fibres. Inspired by nature, it's the natural and safe solution to cat litter.
