That looks too much like a bidet for me to consider purchasing. LOL! Many have used the Drinkwell fountain though, if you're looking for some type of fountain for your kids.

I've got the PetMate water fountain but I would love to have another one so the kitties can have a water fountain in their outdoor enclosure. I'll get that one in the picture. Good price too!

I used to use the PetMate until the pump broke down (after a few years - so it lasted quite a while). KD liked it, but it's a huge pain in the ass to clean.

I ran the original Drinkwell for two weeks. The cats avoided it because the motor was too loud. The fountain was situated in a room, 12 feet across the hall from my bedroom; it was loud enough to disturb my sleep. I packed it up and sent it back to the merchant.
Recently, I purchased the Petmate deluxe. It ran quietly as advertised on the packaging for just one day. Then the motor became very noisy. I took the fountain apart and refilled it according to the instructions, but to no avail. This too had to be returned to the store.

Hummm - I've had the basic drinkwell for about 2 months now. It is very quiet! I don't hear the motor unless the water level is low. I do hear the sound of the water.

I have had the Drinkwell for a few years, the cats loved it.It finally broke recently and I bought a cat fountain called the bubbler on sale at Drs.Foster and Smith online. They really really love this one! It holds more water,is easier to clean and all the cats will drink from it.Also it is very quiet.

I currently have a Drinkwell fountain. One of my cats likes a lot, but it is a bit loud. I used the Petmate in the past and it is nice and quiet, but the cats didn't like it as much because the water slides down the back of the fountain rather than shooting out of a spout.
The one in the link above is a much better price than either of the 2 I have used!

i first bought the Petmate fountain for my cats. they loved it and in ran fine for about 2 weeks then the on/off switch fell apart on its own-it was never moved. that was easily fixed with a screw but then the screw top with plunger for the reservoir broke- the plunger snapped in two while it was soaking in a bowl of water during the weekly cleaning. i dont recall applying pressure to it-i reached in to rinse it off and it was in pieces. sigh. cheap chinese made crapola.
so on a whim i saw a Catit fountain for half the price and bought it. ive had it a month and no problems whatsoever-the cats love it and it looks cooler. its only loud when it runs out of water. the adapter gets very hot and i was at first concerned but their web site claims this is normal and that they had one plugged in for 3 years running in testing.
id have to say-i know my Petmate is probably under warrenty and i should get the parts replaced but i haven't plugged it back in since getting the Catit.

I just bought a Drinkwell fountain, but feel it was grossly overpriced at $50 in Petsmart. I am going to return it after opening the box and seeing it; it looks like really cheap quality. I also have an issue with forcing the cats to drink from plastic. As we all know, you are not supposed to feed cats from plastic dishes, and this way they would be exposed to water flowing over plastic continually. I just talked to my vet who has a stainless steel fountain. She said it is NOT designed for cats, it is one of those fountains designed to "relax" people. It is stainless steel, with the polished stones in the bottom. After setting it up, she found that her cats were really enjoying it, so now she puts her bottled water in it for them, it is THEIR fountain now. I would also prefer a non-plastic fountain for my cats, either stainless or ceramic, and don't think a relaxation fountain would be much more expensive than this $50 Drinkwell. Has anyone tried this sort of "non-cat" fountain? In light of the melamine toxins, I am even more reluctant to give my cats water out of a plastic container.

BW,
Do you have any idea where to purchase a stainless steel fountain like your vet has? I would be interested.
I have used the plastic fountains for about 10 years. The last one I bought, nobody will drink out of it even though I clean it and even tried bottled water as I thought they suddenly did not like our well water. Well, only one cat drinks water now because he is early CRF. The other cats I rarely see drinking water, all on wet food. The CRF cat wants it straight from the water faucet, so he might like a stainless one.

I like the idea of a stainless steel fountain. Seems a lot more sanitary than plastic, especially after a few years.

Oh my, so expensive! I have been pricing non-cat tabletop fountains, and if you want ceramic or stainless they are REALLY expensive, at least for me. If you want ceramic they run several hundred dollars! And the ones I have found that are stainless steel are about 4 or 5 hundred, or more!! I will have to do more research, to be sure! I googled and found some resin ones that are cute, and much cheaper, and I am sure the cats would love all the little waterfalls etc, but I don't really know what resin is, and maybe it would be just as bad for the cats as plastic would be. I will keep looking and if I find anything ceramic or stainless that is not prohibitively expensive (at least for me) I will post it here. In the next few days, I will actually go to a store in the mall and see what I can find. My vet's mother bought hers from a catalog, but I don't know which one, it's been a while.

Yeowch, pricey! OK, scratch that idea. KD will have to make do with a dripping tap. I think resin means plastic. I guess they figure it sounds better.
