We have 2 of the old-style Drinkwell plastic fountains, but I'm looking at ceramic and stainless fountains.  The Drinkwell fountains have lasted a long time.  Anyone have any recommendations or comments on which ones are good or problematic?  Need one for upstairs adult cats and one for downstairs older kittens.

Interested in a ceramic one, like this

or a stainless one with quality stainless.  Have had problems with stainless pet bowls in recent years that seem to develop rust spots, so not sure if it is my water doing it.  Have well water, but thinking of using bottled water instead for cat fountains. Thanks for any suggestions/recommendations.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Alek0 recommended the Avalon to me in one of Smoggy's threads. She says it's easy to clean. Catmom5 also recommended the Pagoda, which is similar to the avalon. Also easy to clean.

We have 3 of these stainless ones, and have had one of them for about 5 years. We really like this model, particularly since Phantom is allergic to plastic. There has been no rust or corrosion, although we do have to clean them using vinegar because of our hard water (we don't use the softened water in the cats' sources because of the salt content.) We had to replace the pump on the oldest one, but felt that 4+ years was pretty good for pump life. The cats seem to enjoy these, too. Amazon also sells a specialized cleaning brush for these fountains as an add-on, and that brush is worth its weight in gold, particularly the split sponge part for cleaning around the edges of the bowl.
