For just ordinary fingerprints or paw prints, I find that plain old Pledge spray furniture polish, especially the orange forumula, seems to work fine. If the furniture is really dirty, maybe you can try washing it with Murphy's Oil Soap, which is made especially for cleaning wood furniture. You should be able to find it in your grocery store in the aisle with all other cleaning items. When the furniture is thoroughly dry, then follow up with any kind of furniture polish. Hope this helps.

Moonlight- If regular products don't work,I have used 1 that is even safe for antiques & the new finishes that can't have wax. Its made by Guardsman, tan bottle with a brown lid.Its called furniture polish, but is not the same as pledge, etc. You can wet a rag & wring it out really well & pour the cream onto it & clean the furniture with it. Let it dry for a few minutes & buff with a clean dry cloth. Make sure its a lint free micro type cloth that won't scratch the wood. I usually dry dust first on really good pieces so there are no loose particles there to harm the finish when you buff it dry.If that doesn't work use orange oil & it will fade slowly the more you use it.

Yes, I had forgotten about Guardsman. It is a good product. My mom used it all the time on her furniture. Worth a try also.

Does anyone know what the best furniture cleaner is to get rid of greasy cat paw prints? I guess my question would be, how does your cat get greasy paws?? Is like the cat eating Kentucky fried chicken?? Or is the cat a car mechanic?? Or maybe fresh asphalt?? Anyway what really works well but is smelly as hell is an old time mixture of equal parts of mineral oil, turpentine and vinegar, does a really good job of cleaning but really does stink. good luck db

All cats have oil on their pads and will leave behind a certain amount of grease on wood.

Mandycat,
I haven't had a chance to go out to look for one of the mentioned products yet...I've been so busy dealing with two sick dogs. But as soon as I do try one of your suggestions, I'll let you know how it turned out!

Glad you had a good result with the Guardsman, Moonlight. My mother would never use anything else on her furniture! Thanks for letting us know it worked.
