Canada. This is my favourite allergy cat food. We tried the plain Venison canned cat food for about a month and our cats loved it. They ate it well and seemed more energetic and bright eyed and their fur was very soft. Unfortunately it has been out of distribution in Canada for some time and we had to switch to another brand. There is no grain or veggies in this food, just meat. I would buy it again if I could get it. They also have a Venison and Hoki fish version that our cats loved even more but the fish gave our allergy cat problems (itching, licking, pulling out fur, excessive ear wax, sneezing) and I hate the smell of fish in cat food so was glad to stick with the plain venison. The North American sales rep was very helpful in answering all our questions regarding the ingredients and manufacturing of the food. It's very hard to find though and more expensive than most food though not much more than Addiction or Nature's Variety. One can fed both our cats for a day - their combined weight is around 20lbs.

Canada. I would love it if my cats would go for Ziwipeak, but they just turn up their noses.

We had a hard time getting our cats to eat ZiwiPeak at first and they didi the "walk away" also but that has been my experience with Addiction and Nature's Variety Venison as well. We had to stop leaving out their dry food in the day and once they were hungry and got used to the food they really liked it. Unfortunately this is a very expensive food to waste and I understand why people get discouraged. I bought a case of the Addiction Venison and we give them a can every so often in the evening and they eat it pretty well on a part-time basis but when I was trying to feed it every day they didn't want it. I'm going to try to rotate the Addiction, Nature's Variety and ZiwiPeak if I can get it and hopefull my cats will stay interested in their food.

Artzwild, thank you for posting your experience with ZiwiPeak. I just ordered some ZiwiPeak Venison for my gang, but had not heard of anyone who fed it to their cats. I plan on using it to add variety to their usual menu.
The rep was very helpful in providing the nutritional information for their foods. I also ordered some of their treats.

I tried canned venison and fish, and none of the three was interested in it. Anyone has experience with Ziwipeak dry? I am considering trying that next, I like the ingredients of this food but my kitties don;t always like to eat what is good for them.

I bought some of the dry. It's more like freeze dried, not like your typical dry food. Mine wanted to try it right away, but now they seem to have lost interest in it. If I put some on top of their regular dry food someone does eat, but I'm not sure which one. I also bought some of their Venison treats and one of my cats loves them. The other three like them, but don't love them the way the other one does.

I am from Ontario, Canada. I just purchased a can of the Venison & Fish....and the boys go wild for it!! They are both really picky when it comes to canned food, yet they seem to devour this with no problems. I find it is a rather "smelly" food, but the nutrition value is outstanding. The food itself is very dense. The price here is about $3.00 per 6.5 oz. can. Their main diet is dry so a can should last approximately a week since they only get a bit each day. Once the can is opened it lasts 7 days in the fridge. I have asked my pet store to bring in the lamb version for my next trial.

Well, dried one was a success. Stefie wen't crazy over it, which was unusual since he is not a big fan of freeze dried stuff apart from chicken and salmon treats. Girls weren't as interested (funny, they all love fresh raw venison), but they ate some, and Sophie ate quite enthusiastically later when I sprinkled some freeze dried chicken on it. Stefie ate most of it, which is great since he is my biggest worry and he is usualy not that good in eating what is good for him. Ingrediets of the food are excellent.
I tried canned again, but none of the cats were interested. They prefer food with chunks and pieces, so I guess that's why.
Anyway, I am glad that I have another source of protein dry that covers all the cats. Even if the girls are not that enthusiastic, they eat Nature Variety freeze dried venison, and Stefie eats Ziwipeak, so they all get some venison, that's good enough.
Btw, here are the ingredients of Ziwipeak venison dry: Venison - Meat, Liver, Tripe, Kidney and Heart; Chicory Syrup; Green-lipped and Blue Mussel; Lecithin; Hoki Fish Oil; Kelp; Vitamins and Minerals. Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols.

Hello
I have been using the Venison for my boys for several months now. Have tried all varieties, but they seem to like this one the best. Venison and Fish is rather smelly...but they do eat it. The best method I have found with this food is emptying the contents of the can and mixing it up throughly. If you do not use the entire can, the rest goes in the fridge. My boys like if I boil some water and add it to the colf food before serving the leftovers. I love this brand of food and how the boys look and act!! Awesome pick!!

Just purchased a few cans of the Lamb to try for Wilson (aka Mr Finicky). The food is very dry, but he seems to really like it. Just ordered a case.

Great results with my kidney failure boys with the fish and venison. It is pricey but nice that they need to eat less since the moisture content is low. I divide 2 cans between 6 of them 3 times a day. It is in my food rotation (Wellness, Weruva, By Natures Organic) and feel it has helped keep my cats at a stable weight.

I bought some canned ZiwiPeak venison that looked different than previous cans. I was impressed that I heard back so quickly from their website (as well as talking to the North American sales rep). They said they hadn't changed the formula, just the place that makes the food. Evidently the process is different b/c the food was creamier and pink and now chunkier and dark.
My cats turn their noses up at it. Has anyone else gotten this new version of ZiwiPeak? Do your cats like it?
One of mine is allergic. Are there any other foods that you've found is good for allergic cats?
Thanks.

I have the newer cans and there is no enthusiasm for this food as their once was. The lamb is totally ignored. The venison may get a mouthful and the venison and fish sometimes gets nibbled at.
There is definitely a difference in consistency from the older cannery.

I have been using this food for well over a year and have not noticed too much difference in cans at all. What lot number are the new cans? I just purchased a case of the venison and the boys seem to eat normally.....but one of mine does prefer chunks anyway. I ususally break any huge ones up to make it a little easier to chew.
I have always been impressed at the quick response from this company. Did they give you a reason as to the change in location of the food being made?
