If I only put 1/2 the thought into feeding myself that I put into Mr. Catticus, I'd no longer be overweight & would be in much better health!
LOL I think that would apply to many of us! Agreed, as I noted on another thrread - organically wise, the kitties are eating much better than I (but I have health insurance )

Neither I nor kitty have health insurance, but as his is $300 per year (last time I checked), & mine would likely be $300 per month, guess who's more likely to get it around here....... Actually I've been wanting to get him catastrophic (I swear no pun intended, honest...), but at his age they require a blood test within 30 days of the application, & each time he's gotten a blood test that took the money I might have used for insurance.......!

Know what you mean.
The Humane Society and King County Animal Control give a good idea of the costs for yearly visits for kitties (Vets for Less are across the street from me, and they think my kitties in good health). This works out well for me, since right now - I am ill equipped to deal with $1000+ bill, and I have a 15 yo kitty.
So they suggest putting away $10 a week (while saving up for the other). So kities would require (all being normal and healthy) - around $100 per year each (including bloodwork), and $40/month set aside for emergencies (that can work for mine too). I plan on opening a separate savings account for this.
P.S. - that would be the amount of the catastrophic anyways - so might as well be self insured here? Why let them collect interest on the money?

So excited we got a new pet food store they have everything I ever wanted to try and one of them was WERUVA, the man said it is there biggest seller and they carry everything foo foo you can imagine even the frozen stuff. Anyway got a few to try and Topaz loved the Paw Lickin' Chicken where as Geisha walked away. So Geisha got to try the Polynesian Barbeque and licked it clean. I have like 3 other flavors to try will post the results. Off to check the opinion on here of the free sample of dry they gave me

SGN - I haven't seen the dry - what are the ingredients? May be an alternative to Solid Gold Indigo Moon?

Introductory special on Weruva at my "pet food warehouse" yesterday, 2 cans for the price of 1. My cats have never liked the older Weruva fish flavors, but I thought at that price I'd try the chicken flavors.
Last night I served On the Cat Wok to three of five cats (didn't give to other two because it contains baby corn, and they have corn sensitivity.)
Two devoured eagerly except for the bigger veggie chunks. I was surprised at one of these, because she is somewhat fussy about her canned food. Cat #3 ate some, but was not enthusiastic.

Tonight my two hard-core dry food cats, Cameo and Phantom, were offered the Funky Chunky Chicken Soup. Cameo actually ate some! In fact, she passed up the bowl of dry food sitting next to it to eat the Weruva canned instead! Phantom also smelled it very carefully, and acted quite interested, but did not eat any. Perhaps she was not hungry at the time, because she did not eat any dry food, either. Edit--the cat who ate this threw up twice the next day, in the morning and the late afternoon. I can't say for sure that it was caused by something in the food not agreeing with her, but this is a cat who never throws up.

Just a remonder - wet/moist cat food should only be left out for 1 hour tops. Especially in warm climates.

All still good here, we just bought our 3rd 24 can case. (Along with the similar Sheba meat only we were briefly using just before Weruva) this is the first food in his 12 years he's NEVER thrown up once.
Local pet store said they've been told some formula(s) are goingto change. They weren't certain, but they THOUGHT the change was going to be removing corn in 1 or 2 varieties.
I really need to call Weruva with positive feedback & requests not to change Paw Lickin' Chicken & 9 Livers.

The same three cats who ate the Weruva Funky Chunky ate Paw Lickin' Chicken (the plain chicken meat flavor) on Sunday morning (over 48 hours ago), and there has been no vomiting, belching, etc. with this one. They really do seem to enjoy this food!

We had some bad diarrhea on Friday & Saturday for the first time on this food; but at this point I'm GUESSING it's because I put uneaten food back in the refrigerator after 10-15 minutes of taking it out & that may have been too long in this heat. No more diarrhea so far since I started throwing away leftovers (hard on the wallet, though!)
