My guys normally eat the 5.5 oz Chicken and Herring just fine, but lately have been refusing it (7WCHS4 26 SEP 14).  Instead, they've been very keen on the 5.5 oz Turkey (7WTKS4 02 SEP 14).  Which is a bit odd because they'd been shunning the turkey previously.

We're still working on finding a homemade recipe with the Alnutrin that my Lucy will eat.  Then we'll be off the Wellness completely (she's the only one who isn't wholly on board with the raw and clings to her canned).

mikken, I guess it's just each individual cats preference.
The cans of 5.5oz Turkey my cats are refusing have the exact codes 7WTKS4 02 Sept 14  Huh

Huh.  Weird.  Clearly they're changing something, though.

Wellness canned Chicken, 3 oz BB 17 Oct 14 7WCC1 1744

Lola has been throwing this up each time they have this can. And then diarrhea. Not a happy girl. I do believe it has been this lot.

I would take this as a definite sign that something is "off"- even if it may be "only" that that batch disagrees terribly with your kitty.

This brand of food has had noted visual inconsistancies between batches for awhile-even- a recall. I for one no longer buy it as I found it too "hit or miss"- one day cats liked Wellness the next day it may look different (or not) and they don't like it....

I hope Lola feels better soon.
ps if you have more cans of this batch will the store let you return them?

I'm sure I can return the cans, but honestly, I wouldn't want anyone else buying them. I have 3 cans left.

I have chucked out food too for the same reason.. even Wellness. Glad it's only 3 cans to lose money on.
Like I said, I will not buy this brand again. There have just been too many problems and inconsistancies.

How's Lola? Hope her tummy feels better-poor baby.

Make a big x on the label before returning, that way they can't restock it. I hope Lola is feeling better ?

Thank you for all of the help. After taking the Oct 14 Chicken cans away, Lola's tummy is much better -- no vomiting, no diarrhea.

I wish I could find a better food to transition them to. Sigh.

I'm sorry to hear that some of your kitties are not doing well on Wellness.  Mine are currently doing fine on the following:

Chicken and Herring, MW7 19:04, BB 06 APR 14

Chicken, MW10 16:32, BB 05 APR 14

I mix and match with other brands for each meal, so they only get about 1/2 to 1 can of Wellness per day.  It's getting harder and harder to find high quality canned food that are locally available and that my cats will eat!  Shocked

We're still occasaionaly using the new 3 ounce cans of minced, shredded, cubed varieties without problems.  Kittens want no part of them so far though.

I've been using some Wellness canned, among other foods, since at least 2004.  None of my cats have ever cared for the plain chicken flavor.  Recently, on a whim, I decided to try the chicken variety again.  My cats are loving it!  These are 3oz cans with a couple of different BB dates September 2014.

Maybe a dumb question, but has Wellness Chicken always had turkey in it? I don't recall seeing in there, but maybe I just didn't notice before.

Checked with the Wayback Machine - only goes back to October 2010, but it looks like yes, turkey has always been there.  Interesting that it has both guar gum and carageenan in it, though...

Sorry, should be November 2010, not October.
