I currently feed Primal Grinds raw frozen formula. I feed the grinds and not the formulas so I can control the amount of plant matter in their diets. (which is zero for the cats) I do occasionally add some canned food for flavor variety or cut up meat chunks.

All 4 grinds are eagerly eaten by my cats and my dogs. The chicken and the turkey is the #1 favorites. So far, no other commercial raw food I have bought has been so over whelmingly loved by the cats.

The food is eaten eagerly. The litter boxes are no longer a big chore. They dring very little water but the urine seems to be not so strong. The stools are almost odorless in minutes. Some other raw foods have caused occasional throwing up or refusals but not with this product line. The price is very affordable as well.

We tried the Primal freeze-dried.  All of my cats seem to really like it.  I've tried other brands of freeze-dried, and the cats like it dry.  But if I re-hydrate it, they walk away.  They like the Primal re-hydrated.  I'm not entirely sure about seeds and nuts and the cod liver oil, but I think I will give it occasionally.  I bought the turkey one. (I believe they had a recall for salmonella on the frozen, and afterward instituted HPP on poultry products.)

We buy the turkey nuggets. Monkey loves them, Maya doesn't (she prefers a different brand). Never had a problem and have been buying them for years now.

I've finally gotten my hands on Primal.   Grin  I'd been wanting to try this out for a while and I'm so happy to have it available to us now.

At this point my 8 have been eating rehydrated freeze-dried for lunch (two different brands) so everyone is pretty used to it and I know they all like raw.

It turns out for Primal that the optimal feeding amount is actually about half the amount they're used to eating.  So, for example, for breakfast the boys usually eat 4 ounces of canned food but with Primal they'd be eating 1.5 ounces (the rehydrated amount).   Tongue   Wasn't sure how that would go over.

We tried Chicken & Salmon for breakfast this morning.  I had the feeling it was going to be challenging to prepare it in front of them before breakfast, so last night behind locked doors  Cheesy I crumbled 10 nuggets (for 8 cats) into a Ziplock so that all I had to do this morning was add water and stir it up.  All last night they kept smelling towards the cupboard where the Ziplock was being stored.   Tongue

Well, thank goodness I pre-crushed them because preparing it for them,... well, I may as well have been taking out freeze-dried chicken snacks, it was that bad - scream-mewing and frantic pacing hopping on the counter hopping off the counter hopping on the counter hopping off the counter.  I had to stand in the middle of the room with a tray and bowl of mixture hoping nobody was going to try to jump up on to me.

Of the 8 cats, 5 of them completely sucked it down.  3 of them snubbed it.

One good thing about the small amount is that Fhizzy, who is an incredible nibbler, was able to completely finish her portion (25 gr = about 1 oz) in one sitting (first time EVER).  Chami also was able to completely finish her portion, which was awesome.

The boys, however, stood around hoping and praying there'd be more.  (And since there were three who snubbed it,  they did get the leftovers, which means I'll need to figure out the dinner balance...or convince them that two meals a day is better than three.  Roll Eyes )

The three that snubbed it (Sunday, Jazza, Lulu) would prefer if I give fd raw to them dry, so maybe I'll try making their portions with half the water next time.

Anyway, big paws up!

ETA : Updating since we did the Salmon&Chicken for breakfast again this morning.  Again a huge hit, but this time Lulu, who snubbed it before, absolutely loved it.  Jazza ate a bit and Sunday snubbed it again (though I must mention that Sunday in general is not a breakfast girl).

We did turkey for breakfast and it was a big hit!  7/8 tore into it.  The smaller serving seems to be filling and satisfying and nobody has been lingering asking for a snack, and Fhizzy's relentless nibbling has ceased because she loves the raw and is able to finish off the small portion in a sitting.  I'm so happy!  (knock on wood lol)

Tried venison this morning and this, too, was a hit.  7/8 said yum.  (Lulu didn't want this but it was Sunday who didn't want the turkey one.)

This is my first bag so it might just be the particular bag, but the venison nuggets are quite hard and a bit difficult to break apart (when you have to break 13 of them, anyway  Roll Eyes  ).  I let the dry mixture sit longer with warm water and it turned into a wonderful ground venison.

I've been trying out various FD raw, and Primal, so far, seems to be the favorite.

Heads up for those who are interested - it looks like Primal has come out with two new flavors!  Duck and Rabbit!

My guys used to like the turkey, but they they tried the duck!  Now turkey sits sad and alone because duck is the favorite!

Haven't tried the rabbit, yet, but a few of my crew really don't like rabbit (I know - heathens!), so I'm not running to try it.

Rabbit - yummy yummy in 8 tummies!

Mikken - you might try the rabbit.  Four of mine aren't into rabbit but even those girls enjoyed the Primal Rabbit.  Yay!

Mine all went totally nuts over rabbit. They are big fans of duck, but after I served rabbit, duck bowl went untouched until all the rabbit was gone.

We tried duck again today.  The first time we had it for dinner.  It was eaten but maybe not so enthusiastically so I wanted to see how it went over for breakfast.

5 enthisusiastics
3 lukewarms

Rabbit was definitely a big winner.  Nevertheless rabbit and duck will both go into our rotation.

Really?  Will have to try it, then!  Stella and Chewy's have a rabbit now that the cats liked the first time we tried it, but haven't followed up on it to see if it'll go over a second time...

Nope Primal Rabbit was met with "meh" all around.  The Stella and Chewy's Rabbit was definitely the winner between the two.
