Has anyone any experience with this?  This is new and made outside the US.  I bought some of this at the pricey store for $1.49 and then I found some at Stop n Shop for $.89.  It is made in Uragray (sp) there is a stamp on the bottom of the can that says pet food only.

Is this beef, Ranger?  I just went to look up their website.  Grain-free?  I'll be looking for it when I go shopping.  We've used the other flavors with organic poultry and rice in the past.

Yikes, when did Newmans own become Uraguay made?  Is this cat or dog food?

I know of one organic dry foods is made there with organic Uraguay beef and grains, but it isn't Newmans.  Wonder if they have merged with them now?

The beef is sourced from Uraguay according to their website.  Supposedly BSE free.  Limited ingredients.  Maybe it's just the beef ones that are made in Uraguay?

They had three different kinds at the pricey store but only one at the regular grocery.  Beef and Liver is one kind like a dope I didn't even notice it was made elseware but Socks liked it. It is stamped on the bottom of the can though.

That's not necessarily bad.  Their beef is supposedly safer than ours.  My cats like beef.

My cats like beef too, but I've been so afraid to give it to them because of BSE.  If Uruguay does not have BSE, I am going to look for this flavor.  So far I have not seen it where I buy NO--only chicken in organic.

They are supposed to be BSE-free.  Maybe the meat is cheaper there too.  Beef here has really gone up in the post few months.

http://www.ers.usda.gov/AmberWaves/April08/Features/GlobalMarket.htm

Both Uruguay and Argentina:

"They achieved BSE-free status through pasture-based cattle and beef production technologies and bans on using meat and bone meal (MBM), a high-protein material rendered from animals, in animal feed."

Organic Beef for Cats, 3 ounce  USDA/Organic
Certified organic by:  Control union certification CU021030

000(numbers change per can even though in case) 05/13/10 NC
URUGUAY.N1.INSP

Grain-free
contains:  Organic beef, organic beef broth, minerals, taurine, vitamins.  I won't type in all the vitamins and minerals (my eyes are getting blurry from the fine print).

Tastes like bland beef.  All beef, so it looks like "cooked beef"with even some tiny pieces of fat in it.  Thick consistency with pieces of real beef you can visibly see like flaked off a pot roast.  One can had a definite metallic smell to it when opened, however, it tasted bland like the others did, and the cats that liked it devoured it.  (no, I don't swallow)

Definitely not your ordinary cat food.

Offered to 11 adult cats, aged 1 to 18.

5 cats devoured (1 senior, 2 ferals, 2 young cats BJ and Cassi)

1 senior cat ate half portion, so gave him his regular food.

5 cats refused entirely, gave them their regular food. (2 of these cats never eat fresh food, only canned cat food.  The other 2 regularly eat fresh food from our plates)

Will update later whether or not any problems.

I got a case of the Newmans Own organic canned beef for the pitas.

It was, in their opinion, bad enough to make the Wellness C&H good enough for supper.
