I really wanted to have good results with Instinct wet food for my kitty with IBD, but i switch him to the wet duck one and he IMMEDIATLY had horrible diarreah and anal leakage. He didn't like the Veal one and would pick out the AveoDerm I was mixing it with as i was transitioning him and would leave the lamb.
I have not tried the Venison or Rabbit formulas, but the all have about 9% fat, which I'm thinking is too rich for his senstive digestion.

Well, thank you ANikki if you had anything to do with it. The website has been updated to reflect the values on the cans - so what we see on the label is in fact what is supposed to be there.
However, second batch of Rabbit - Siberia had a tad problem. First meal, hariball. Second meal - slight vomit (not a lot - he did continue to eat hesitantly). The boys weren't as enthused this time (except for the first opening). Baby Girl, as always - just chowed down (I swear, if I was into home cooking now - she would be the easiest transistion the world has seen).

just put phil (has had diarreah since i got him from the shelter 2 mo ago. Currently experimenting on what protien he can tolerate) rabbit dry formula since he seems to have a foul/ poultry allergy. After one day I thing there's already positive results! He's have a darker semisolid vm instead of the very liquidy light brown he's had in the past.
He didnt seem very excited at first, but I mi fed with a little avoderm dry he likes and he ate it all up. Will transition. Him off avoderm and see how he likes of by next week.
Good so far.

Blastermags, Im assuming Phil has been checked by the vet for coccidia and other things they can pick up at shelters? I am glad you might be seeing some improvement!

Hi sandi! Thank you for the concern. I did take Phil to the vet about two weeks after I got him ( he had a full check up at he shelter, and they gave me science duet sen. stomach and some prescription eukanuba wet.) the vet turned out to be a holistoc vet, which I knew nothing about! He did a fecal exam for parasites and ran some blood tests. He wants to avoid prescriptions and stressful biopsies if possible, and we've been working togeather to try and find a good natural diet ( he told me to get off the SD and run. Asap and gave me some superpremium advice) since his syptoms aren't terrible and he's healthy otherwise.
This board has given me slot of help in figuring out what could work! I'll post updates if it works or not.

Wow Blastermogs, a vet that said to run from SD? Very good! We look forward to hearing more about Phil and how things progress.

Last 2 cans of a case of Chicken Instinct wet (dog) 13.2 ounce. Rejected by 4 out of 10 cats. 041010 23CTM2 0219/0218 Hmmm.edited to add: Now that I checked my notes, the cats that rejected it today haven't been too crazy about this particular lot of food. And they were fed 4 hours late today, so they were hungry. I have another unopened case of the same lot. However, the other 6 cats had no problems eating it.

Well, Phil has been on the rabbit for about two and half weeks and still isn't too thrilled, he started trying to eat my roommates cats Friskies, which is not good for him. :-(. I feel like the pellets are too big for his liking. He picks up one at a time, and end up dropping it a lot and has to push it up against the wall off his food bowl for the leverage to get it into his mouth. I think the shape is also difficult for him to grasp. It's almost completely round, while his AvoDerm was more of a Y shape and easy to pick up. He does still like the rabbit wet food though and eats it with gusto, but I think i'll take him off the dry. he look miserable when he's trying to eat it. :-(

Just opened a can from a new case of NV Instinct Chicken Formula and found several small chunks of potato. Potato is not listed as an ingredient in this food. Bottom of the can looks like: 101509 23CTM3 1057 5CatMom =^..^ =

Oy. I was just packing up to go and buy a couple cases of this. Were they 5.5 or 12.5 oz cans?

Wow 5Cat, thanks for sharing this. I was just getting ready to order some different flavors to try on Sophers....once again..sigh. Im wondering if you considered sending a PM to Sandy, I think he was a manager of some sort and was here before when NV had prior problems and see if he is willing to talk about it and or at least look into it and perhaps post when he finds out what is going on? His member name was SMGMI.....just a thought instead of just calling NV. ETA: Just another thought is you might want to take a picture of the food to have on hand, its your decison if you want to post it or not but at least it might be good to have it just in case...

I would think a pm is worth a try. He did seem concerned & its good he's still checking. While the co may not have responded as well as we here would like, they did impliment some of our suggestions also. Plus they didn't deny any problems or threaten anyone.

I just did a quick check and I cant find that they use potato in any of the canned cat food except the Prairie Homestyle has potato starch......so where would this have come from? 5Cat I hate to ask this but are you sure its potato you are seeing? Or maybe its globs of potato starch from not being mixed thoroughly?
