I recently purchased a bag of the Instinct Rabbit formula. I have not had much success in getting my kids to eat more than just a couple of kibbles at a time. Disappointed that they do not like it. Will not purchase again. They do seem to enjoy the canned Instinct, although one cannot eat it because it contains eggs.

Instinct canned has become a big hit with my cats. Even the ones who usually won't eat wet food enjoy the Instinct rabbit. Instinct duck was refused by all; it is a lot more watery and my cats don't like watery food. This morning we tried the first can of beef. When I opened it, I was dubious because the beef was a really, really "stiff" food--hard to mash up with a fork. But all five ate the beef, including the fussy dry-food addicts, in record time! None of the Instinct canned foods seem to have caused any belching, vomiting or diarrhea, even with the cat who has a sensitive stomach. Five paws up!

After this food got rave reviews, I decided to try it. My fancy feast fiend wouldn't touch it, (no surprise, really) and my other two cats liked it at first, but seem to be tired of it after half a case. It's Instinct chicken. Also tried the dry. My picky cat tried it once and never again, and the other two were unenthusiastic but ate some. It's the Prairie Chicken Meal and Brown Rice Medley. I have a bag of grain-free Instinct Chicken Meal Formula that I have not opened yet. Was thinking I might use it as treats to get them to try it. I hope it's different enough from the Prairie that they won't think it's the same thing.
Won't order the canned again, they just don't seem to like it enough to bother. Will continue the search for canned they really love.

Most cats prefer the Salmon and beef. But mostly the salmon.

I bought a bag on dry Instinct chicken formula about a month ago to try as one of my rotation dry foods. Two of five cats became somewhat constipated, even though one only snacks on dry food, eats mostly wet. They were only getting it every 4th meal, but the change in stools was very noticeable. The cats ate it, but were not enthusiastic. I don't plan to buy it again.

My two cats have been eating NV Canned Chicken exclusively for a few months. No problems so far. No indication of boredom with the food. I have given the duck flavor to one of them, the other one is not as interested.

I've been feeding Instinct canned for many months now with no problems. Cats love it. Today, we had our first refusal. 7 cats ate it, 3 walked away, 2 of the 7 picked at it, then ate it. They usually split 2 cans between 10 cats for a meal, so for the second can I gave them a different brand grain-free canned, which all 10 ate. I'm going to start listing my lot numbers here, like I do on another thread. This was just 15 minutes ago. Duck 13.2 ounce cans 012610 23DKM2 1038

Thank you JustMe for this thread. I too have been feeding NV Instinct for quite some time with no problems. This evening was another story. My gang gets only Beef and Lamb. Tonight I opened 3 cans of the Beef....they were ravenous as I was late getting home from work.......
Absolute refusal of the food by all 6....we are in NY

This food gets rave reviews on our IBD forum, in particular the rabbit. I decided to try the food on my non-IBD cat Wilson....he vomited within minutes of eating the NV Instinct Duck, and it was the first time I've ever seen him vomit on food (although there are other foods that he didn't feel well on, he didn't vomit from them). He ate the chicken a couple times as part of a treat and wouldn't touch it after. I had him eating EVO 95% venison for a couple weeks and mixed in some NV Instinct venison and within a couple days wouldn't eat any canned foods with venison in them....Could be it wasn't the Instinct Venison, but after three attempts, he is never getting NV Instinct canned again.
I do still want to try the rabbit for one of my IBD cats.

My cats are kibble and seafood addicts. all the things bad for them : ( im going to order a case of the few ive tried because i did see they picked at the beef. maybe they just need a proper introduction. i like the ingredients and everything about the instinct i just wish they would have liked it from the get go more.
the more i introduced this to them the more they eat. i have one cat who likes the lamb. the other 2 dont like it. 2 of them like the beef also. we finished that can. we also finished a rabbit can. the only flavor that didnt get touched was the chicken. : / ill try it again another time. I just ordered a case of lamb, beef, and rabbit. It seems like its only one of my girls who doesnt seem to be impressed by instincts.
