However, I think Aristocats is for real.

I don't doubt that it is for real, But my guess would be that it is a limited time product just like the old yeller food. My guess is that it is made in China, remember hearing something like that.

The fact that no information can be found on it is really weird. Usually there is something somewhere, someone complaining about it, recommending it, etc. a manufacturer for it, something, anything. really strange

--RE ingredients:  I did scan several of the cans in the store (hard to do without a microscope!  Can they print those labels any smaller?)  Can't really evaluate, so was looking for a website with posted ingredient list.  Still can't find that.

We should just let our wallets do the walking or talking! If I don't see a decent ingredients list or adequate info on a label, I wouldn't
touch the product with 10 foot (or any length) pole. And I wouldn't waste my time or energy researching it. If we don't throw our money
at them, they will disappear as quickly as they appeared.

In reference to the Disney Aristocats cat food, it looks as though it's probably a limited run by SOME company.  There was a Disney movie put out in 1970 called ARISTOCATS (very pampered Persian cats living in France), and a lot of Aristocats memorabilia was sold: statues of the lead cat, perfume, cell phone charms, etc.  The date of 1970 scares me, unless there has been a recent revival of the film???

Another possibility... Did Disney just celebrate its 100th birthday?  It could be that companies are featuring top films from throughout the decades on their labels... you know, some cereals will print a run of their boxes showing current movie characters??  Anyone else?

DB -
Found some info on promomagazine.com.  Not the whole story, but definite leads.  At the 6/23/06 show, Disney announced plans to launch a whole line of pet foods based on Disney characters - right down to hermit crabs!  They are tied to Kroeger, who just happens to own Fred Meyer, whose house brand is Pet Pride and is made by Menu for Kroeger. Fred Meyer, Ralphs and QFC are also owned by Kroeger.  Disney had plans to launch a lot of products last fall, but since I don't live in Washington any longer and don't have any Kroeger-owned stores in the area I hadn't heard about any until Old Yeller (sp?) showed up on the forums.  There was mention that they had their choice of brands, and Fancy Feast (Nestle) was mentioned.  Could not find the "who cans what" list...but if looks like FF it just might be.  Can't find anything more recent so far.  Plug in "aristocats" for search on the promo site for the complete article.  Hope this helps.

MaineMom--excellent stuff!  What puzzled me was I could not develop anything further on Embassy:  on the can it says, Distributed by Embassy International, Cincinnati, Ohio.  But I tried yellow pages, white pages, etc and couldn't find that company.

And it also says, refer to bottom of can for location, and the cans in my local Ralphs say, Made in USA.

I agree that not buying it does send a message, but putting a trusted family brand name like Disney on pet food, will unfortunately lead many to buy it.    And consumers have a right to know if that trust is being upheld, or violated.  So it seems like a worthwhile effort to track down the info.

thanks for the good efforts so far....

Kroger owns Ralphs supermarkets. It appears to me that Aristocats is just a Ralphs brand by a Disney licensed name.
Do we know who has been manufacturing pet food for Ralphs?

Natural Balance has come out with a new Green Pea & Duck formula dry cat food. There is also a canned version in the making. I believe they have discontinued making the Venison & Green Pea dry formula as it is no longer listed on their website. Manufactured by Diamond.

I have just opened my second can of Disney's Aristocat canned cat food and found both cans to be spoiled.  Smelled like rotten meat.  Has Disney recalled this food?  I bought it at Kroger in Atascocita, TX.  I plan on taking it back to Kroger, but seriously don't think this will be pulled from the shelves.  Needless to say, this is the last Aristcat food I'll buy.  I tried to find a way to tell Disney about it but so far haven't been successful.

I just bought a case of Natural Balance Venison and green pea. Is it off the market? What's up with this?

The original recall was for both the canned & dry venison/rice DOG food, and just the DRY venison/pea CAT food.  They still offer the V&P canned cat food, that one was never recalled.  Here's the recall notice from April:

and all their canned formulas for cats--looks like they have a lot of new flavors since I dumped them back in April, too bad:
