Someone else mentioned this product (separate line for dogs and cats) on another thread.  Since I have a brochure for cats, I thought I'd add it to the "New Foods" thread here.

New product: "Before Grain" "B.G." - from Merrick Pet Care, Inc.

The brochure says

no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives
no fillers
no grains
just 100% meat

Choices for cats: chicken, salmon, tuna, turkey, quail, beef.

(The back of the brochure says "...the way food was supposed too be Before Grain got involved.")

The product is 100% meat, water for processing, and that's it - no vitamins/supplements - not a complete food in itself.

I was handed a complimentary can for my dogs and declined.  I believe it was bison.  I don't recall the other choices for dogs, and I only have a brochure for cats.

I wonder where they get their animals from?

Buy local.  Buy organic.
If you ate today, thank a farmer, hopefully a small, local farmer.

Remember the thousands & thousands of pets that died to give US a wake-up call about the safety of ALL food.

Welcome to Itchmo, Dragonfly!

I always thought "Aristocats" was Petsmart's label?

does anyone know of any update on Natural balance venison and green pea recall??? Is it supposed to be peranently pulled? (  I still see it on some shelves... Even the Local stores I trusted.) or has it been rectified? It was said it was a bad ingredient batch.

Welcome, Blastermags.  Try doing a search for Venison & Green Pea from the forums home page.  They did pull it for awhile, but some people have been feeding the new lots they are producing.  I'm not sure when they re-released it.  This was for the canned food, not sure about the dry food.

thanks guys! I checked back on the NB website and it looks like the dry was pulled from their hypoallergenic line on the site. I'm trying my luck with the Instincts Rabbit! I'll post results on that tread!
