Got free sample in mail shortly prior to recalls.  Fed it to my elderly cat on a daily basis.  She ate it with great gusto for a few weeks, then started refusing it.  (This cat was fed in a separate room )  When she started refusing it, I offered it to other cats.  They buried it.  This product was NOT recalled.  It DOES contain WHEAT GLUTEN.  Two episodes after eating this food where cat's hind leg went limp, dragging it behind her, and white, foamy drool from mouth.  On and off labored breathing.  Cat had CRF, but values were on the low side prior to this.   She worsened dramatically after she refused those 2 cans (but she would still eat several other non-recalled foods with gusto).

Don't know if food played a role in her demise or not.  She was on 2 recalled canned foods at the same time.

Where: NH
What: Elegant Medley Chicken Florentine
What happened:  I had 6 cats. Now I have 5. I was feeding Wellness Dry. I got a free sample of Elegant Medley.  LadyCat was the only one to eat it.  Within days, she was lying around, and urinating at the water dish.  The vet said ARF.  He sent her urine to Cornell and it came back positive for melamine. For a few months we had a lot of ups and downs, until finally her kidneys cut out completely and she started to swell up.  I had her euthanized that morning (July 10).
Point of Interest:  LadyCat was an indoor only cat.  She did not go outside and get into antifreeze or lilies, as the FDA and Purina suggested.  (How that puts melamine in your urine is beyond me.) The last time I checked, cats do not have the capability to open bottles of acetaminophen.  The other 5 cats who did not get any Elegant Medley are in excellent health.

I have a lot of comments to make about this food, (and the FDA and Purina) but I guess this is not the forum for it.  I finally got some of the free sample cans that my husband's boss' mother was saving for a food pantry.  Somehow, I  have to figure out how to get these tested.  (Sorry, JustMe and dingbat, I've probably said too much.)

Wisconsin; 4 indoor-only cats.  I got two free sample cans in the mail and bought a few at the grocery store.  This happened a few months apart between approx. Dec 06 and early Mar 07.  Cats ate it with gusto as a treat, but one or two puked it every time.  (Already posted this in FF thread but posting here too now that there is a separate thread for Elegant Medleys.)  Was feeding other foods since recalled at the time, but this is what one or the other puked each time within 15 min. of eating.  Worst vomiting from food I have ever seen in 35+ years of having cats--foamy and disgusting.

JustMe---I know there was a poster on Itchmo who had trouble with her two cats Topaz and Geisha and she had negative comments about this brand--she was "Lorie" and aka "LorieVA"--I left her a message on the Itchmo page on the relevant news story about this recall so I hope she sees it and comes here--I came to Itchmo starting in late April and she was writing then--

I remember that poster - I think she said she was going to have her FF tested.  I never saw another post by her and I was watching for it.
I wonder if she actually sent any in.

I also fed some elegant medleys earlier this year - can't remember the flavors, but one was dark green, the other crimson.  Of four cats, one girl licked all the sauce, one boy ate his, the two other boys walked away.  The boy vomited shortly thereafter, also a foamy mess and later drank lots of water from their bowl and from the faucet.  I'm so over Fancy Feast.  Interesting that they would rather spend money on advertising than on a quality product.  I'm so sick of this...

Both my cats loved the Shredded Tuna flavor. Unfortunately one of them has IBS and anything fish flavored causes her problems.

ohio.  One of my cats vomited while eating this food--she's never done that before.  I won't buy it again.

My cats also vomited after eating this food.  Never used it again.

My friend just received a free sample from Petco of FF Elegant Medley White Meat Chicken & Cheddar Cheese Soufsle With Garden Greens. It DOES contain WHEAT GLUTEN, meat by products, soy products and other yucky stuff. She just told me that she had fed it to her oldest cat that does have CRF. He loved it. He had gotten so that he was getting very picky about eating the 'safe' FF flavors. So that is why she tried this new flavor. Of course, I told her is was bad for him. She comes back with her normal comment - 'Well they've got to eat something'.

Has anyone tried this flavor? Any advise?

Thanks,
