When I picked up Weruva today, I also bought a 6 can variety pack of B.G. (and "ANOTHER cat climber!" - DH). Will mix this in with the 15 cans of Weruva and report back on the "finiky felines taste test."
Lincoln and Disco both loved the Weruva Paw Lickin Chicken, the first sample in their treat food test today.

Tried the chicken flavor today. This has a lot of watery broth in it, so much that when I opened the can, I accidentally dumped it all over my hand. One cat lapped off the broth. One cat (the one who devoured the quail version) ate a small portion. None of the other 3 wanted anything to do with it.
Paws down on the chicken flavor.

Day 1 of these purely supplimental foods began with feathers and ended with fins. They shared a half can of turkey for breakfast. Disco lapped up most of the liquid, as is her wont, and ate a little of the "mush." Glad they tell you on the label it is only turkey and water - you would never be able to guess from the texture. Just process turkey and water in your Cuisinart and save a trip to the pet food store. Both cats left the dish before finishing and Lincoln, the manly Maine, complained vociferously that his dry food dish had mysteriously become empty. He did finally return to clean up the BG. This pm the tuna literally swam onto their plate. These 6 foods have from 76% to 78% moisture content. Me thinks they'd rather snag a koi from the pond. Put the fish and water in the Cuis.....you get the idea. This is probably a very safe food, but does not please their discriminating palates the way last weeks Weruva test did.

Lincoln and Disco asked me to announce they will no longer participate in the BG taste test. Macho Maine marched off in high dudgeon to his bowl of Indigo Moon and Disco, the elegant and ever resourceful, lady went in search of her AmEx card. DH finally took pity on them and opened a can of Solid Gold Blended Tuna!

Bought a few cans this month. Fed the chicken today for the first time. My fussbudget three did not finish their plates. Probably ate about half of it. Oh well cats will be picky. Meowli

ScoreCard: Kibble - 3 of 3 paws up Chicken - 3 of 3 paws down (Ling liked the juice) Quail - 2 3 of 3 paws up down (Ling & MK like it) update
Well, they're still merrily chowing down on the Kibble - new large size bag opened last nite. I guess I should knock wood. I think since the recall this is more bags in a row than ever that haven't changed in a negative manner or been rejected. All 3, true to form, rejected the last can of chicken (they've eaten none of the chicken). The canned Quail is no longer liked by MK. Ling, as always, gets a bite, but now, she moves on to check for an option instead of eating it. She'll pout in the laundry room if nothing acceptable is forth coming. I guess that's one more wet off the shopping list. All in all, I'd rather they ate this kibble than the FF, but I'd rather they had wet LOL. Catch 22 rules still in effect...

Tried quail, no luck, no one would eat it. Seems to be useful only to get them to exercise more, since opening the can and putting the plate down resulted in very vigorous scratching around it in attempt to cover up. Hmph.
Haven't tried the dry yet, might give it a go to provide something different from Orijen for a change.

Tried the salmon (canned) with 4 cats this AM. (Cat #5 hates fish, so didn't try with him.)
Two rejected (typical--they reject most wet food.)
Other two ate eagerly. BG Salmon will go on our list of foods for these two if no digestive upsets are noted later. This seemed less watery than the chicken kind was, which is a plus (my cats won't eat watery food.)
Can anyone tell me why a food that is salmon and water is more brown than pink? I was expecting a pink color like regular canned salmon...

There are different types of salmon, some less pink or red & some more. Keta salmon is kind of a brownish pink.

I see packages of Atlantic Salmon in the grocery stores with a sticky label that says "Color Added". I guess it sells better if it has a lot of orange color. Great, more additives

Re: Salmon Try to buy wild caught Pacific Coast salmon. No color needs to be added and the flesh is much firmer than Atlantic. You'll only find fresh in certain areas, usually fall through spring, but even the frozen from stores like Trader Joes or COSTCO looks and tastes much better than Atlantic. Only things I miss from living on Puget Sound for five years are the salmon, clams, oysters and crab we used to go out to get. Guess I'm just pickie like my cats.

The only salmon I ever buy is Pacific, wild-caught, USA. I usually have to buy it frozen. Atlantic salmon is a no-no, as is Atlantic farmed salmon. Atlantic salmon farming is an environmental nightmare, and wild Atlantic salmon are over-fished. This is a good article about salmon. http://www.eatingwell.com/news_views/special_report/wild_salmon_debate.htmlI'm used to seeing salmon without color additives (I check) that is bright pink. That is why I asked about the color of the cat food. It's probably from farmed salmon, I guess. Phooey. One thing that a couple of my cats really liked, and now I will probably have to reject that too because of environmental issues.

While I totally agree with you (had to copy the article into wordpad - apparently the eyesight is deriorating a bit - time for new glasses) - unfortunatley, some of us must opt for thw lower priced fish. If one sees a compromise alternative here - I'm am all eyes and ears.
