My Bella (9 years old) plays rough, and I"m slowly breaking her of it. She was obviously taught that by her previous owner, but I've never had a cat play with hands before. Tell your husband not to jerk his hand away from her, that's probably why the bites are going too deep.
As soon as Bella grabs my hand and pulls it toward her, I stop all motion. I let her "catch" my hand, and sniff or nip it, then as soon as she relaxes her grip I get up and walk away. If I try to pet her, she attacks again and I get scratched.
Over the 3 years I've had her, she has gotten more and more gentle, but she still does it. I don't mind her doing it, as long as she doesn't hurt me.
