Blacksmith Corner, in Bellflower, CA only sells all natural and organic foods. It was the only store I was able to locate Innova EVO dry cat food. They have a large selection of good wet food, also (Wellness, Wysong, Natural Balance, Felidae, Castor & Pollux, etc.). Centinela Feed is also a good store to try and they have several locations in the Los Angeles area.

k9rawdiet.com in bell canyon delivers my food to me (woodland hills) and she carries only all natural USDA approved and inspected food and treats. Nothing she carries was affected by the recall and she's really diligent about the products she decides to carry. It's nice to have someone who cares looking out for the safety and well being of my pets.

Petco in San Rafael--I only checked for the Natural Balance Venison products. All pulled. I left a printout of those 4 foods for the manager, just to make sure they got all 4. 4-17-07 9 pm

can't find any...
stores tend to wait for the official and delayed FDA list!
i've spoken with managers at about 5 stores in my silverlake area (l.a., eastside) with sad results....
where are the pet food stores that actually care, are pro-active and informed???
do they exist?

What is man without the beasts? If the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected.

I just got back from Pet Food Express (various stores in the Bay Area) from the Stonestown store. They are fairly up to date in the store, with personalized updates on their webpage and had handouts at the counter as well. According to their website, they even pulled ALL of the Nutro Max pouches when the recall first came out, instead of just the limited original batch and continue to follow the practice of pulling anything that might be questionable.

Living in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, I find Centinela and Kritters Korral in Palos Verdes most cooperative about this whole nightmare. They both sell a good selection of organic and holistic products as well as safe foods. Mia2

I swear by Centinela Pet Feed stores .. about 12 in the LA /Orange County area. I was feeding my Westie Natural Balance, and have switched him 2 x in 3 weeks because of his symptoms and allergy problems. Centinela sells a good assortment of Organic but I am currently avoiding all rice unless I cook it myself. I think this mess will only get worse. He is now eating Calif. Natural Fish & Sweet Potato. I think some of Merricks stuff is ok but I am avoiding the brown rice for now. Good luck, Mia2

Tehachapi, California -- Canine Creek Wash & Boutique
We do not carry any of the recalled pet foods, and are staying informed of recall information on a daily basis. The kibble brands we stock include Wellness, California Natural, Innova, Merrick, Chicken Soup, Evo, Solid Gold, Canidae and Natural Balance. (We have not carried the Chicken Soup Puppy/Kitten CANS or the Natural Balance CANS that have been recalled.)

Costco: Culver City I have now checked twice, both a week apart with the most recent being Saturday, 5/5/07. Nothing on their shelves was part of the recall. All Kirkland recalled food was not present. I don't normally buy my pet food at Costco, but thought I'd add it to the safe list for those who do.
Kirby's Pet Depot: Mar Vista All safe as of a week ago where I did purchase my pet food. I was most pleased with their willingness to answer my questions and policy of accepting any food back should it be recalled after purchase. Good people, small store & excellent service.

As of this afternoon, "Rivertown Feed & Pet Country" in Petaluma didn't have any recalled food on the shelves. They carry most of or all the high-quality brands (Wellness, Innova, Felidae, etc.) as far as I can tell -- canned, dry, and raw. It's a good place if somebody recommends a brand to you that you've never heard of and have no idea where to buy.

Adding: Pet Food Express, a small chain in (at least) the SF Bay Area. They're recalling all similar products (i.e. canned, dry, etc.) within a particular brand if it has had recalls, just to be safe. Website has a letter explaining the decision, as well as a store locator.

Happy Tails Barkery - in Redding, CA (Shasta County, Nor Cal) - Safe, up to date on all foods recalled, and they stay informed. They only stock the good stuff anyways, but its nice to have found such a proactive pet food source here!
