if this hits your news, be warned. you may want to turn the channel. they just showed it on CNN and i wasn't paying attention so i missed the warning. even the reporter who gave the warning was visibly upset by it.

Yes, they aired it in my local CNN channel, but cut it short... there's a massive protest about it going on and the Marines are "investigating."  That is one SICK man and I hope he gets thrown out of the marines ... I also hope that nothing bad really happened to that poor puppy!

Some people think it was a hoax with a toy puppy. It looked like the real thing to me.

Wait, there are more videos:

A stark contrast to the folks that are part of Operation Baghdad Pups.

Heard this talked about on a local talk show this morning.  The video was apparently taken down from YouTube, and there is a lot of speculation that this was a hoax video using a toy puppy.  I didn't see it, but the talk show host said that after watching it several times, she also thought that the dog looked like a stuffed animal because it did not wiggle around like a normal dog might.  I hope they get to the truth since it certainly is a horrible act if it is true.   Sad

Well I found a video still on the net, it is disturbing, and I looked, it looks real to me

http://www.evtv1.com/player.aspx?itemnum=10978&aid=

WARNING, the dog does yelp and then it stops

It looks real to me

As to not moving, the dog is being held by the scruff of the neck, when you do this they DON'T MOVE, that is the way momma carries them and they just freeze. Anyone that wants to look at this and give their comments??

I was able to pull the video out of the cache, and have looked at it quite a few times, this really does look real to me

Well, here's David Motari. His MySpace account has been deleted, as have the accounts of his sisters and brother. His address and car license have been blogged, so there's nowhere to hide.

So, if this is true, the guy has clearly failed his temperament test and must be put down. Dishonourable discharge at the very least, and then what does society do with this creep? The Marines must be livid.

Should we write to the governor of California to grab this poor excuse of a marine by the scruff of his neck and toss him over the Grand Canyon?  In old Rome, they used to toss idiots like this one from off the Talperian Rock.

Let's not leave out the doofus with the camera. There may have been a third soldier too.

From one blog:

"I thought it appeared to be real. But I'm no expert, so I turned the video over to a friend (who will remain nameless) of mine who works in the animal business, specifically dogs. I've know this person for over 30 years. His opinion: it's real. He called a contact of his in the Pentagon, an Army Col.

By request, the people he mentions are to remain nameless, for obvious reasons.

The Army Col. said the pup was real and it was the talk of the Pentagon. PR disaster. In fact, the Army Col. talked with a Marine Col. who said "heads will roll" soon in the form of a Court Martial. The Marine is reportedly out of the Seattle area, they think.

My friend adds: the [female canine] was killed by an IED (improvised explosive device), leaving 6 pups behind. They were told to get rid of the pups but NOT in this manner."

I read that Motari had admitted to doing this a year ago (on his MySpace site before it was taken down)? Anyone know?

"David’s Blurbs
About me:
I want to clear somethings up before tomarrow. This might be
hard to believe but I am sorry about the dog. At the time I just really
didn’t care. When you are constantly under fire sometimes people develope a
different sence of humor than what others are used to. That video was from
over a year ago and i dont know who put it out there but it wasn’t me. It
has been a real hard day. I don’t know how they got my information but
someone got all my information and i had to disconnect my parents and my
womans phone. not to mention i had to redo my myspace because it got hacked.
I just want this to end."

And this is the s**t I have to put up with everywhere I've gone today. Believe me I've heard it all. The thing that you guys don't understand is that you're not out there.

"What, you expect me to carry a stray sick dog from patrol 10+ miles back to camp with me. Did you know that we're not supposed to have dogs? Did you know that there isn't medicine available for animals out there? So what the f**k do you want me to do with it. It was going to die a slow and horrible death.

Sorry you guys saw that, but it wasn't supposed to ever been shown. Usually what happens is we shoot them. I was being "creative" that day and decided to throw the dog instead. If i could take it back, I would. Either way, I did the dog a favor. Sorry if you can't understand that."
