The state of Alaska is trying to thin out their wolf population by hunting them from the air.

I'm not sure how I feel about this program.  The state is trying to protect the moose and caribou population by doing this but what's wrong with letting nature take it's course?

I worry when man attempts to control "nature" ~ and I feel bad for the wolves who are just doing what wolves do.

Sad . . .

I live in Alaska and I hate this practice too.  This has been voted on over and over and each time it was banned but then the administration always finds a way around it, over-ruling and over-turning the vote of the people.  Sounds like its up for another vote pretty soon.

Did the state ever try a relocation program or some other humane way to control the wolf population?  I read that the people of Alaska vote the aeriel hunting program down but it keeps getting through.  The wolf makes a comeback and now we are killing them.  Sad........
